November already.

November already! Holiday season is in full swing, I am frantically trying to make enough art for the winter art markets, the snowstorm last week put me behind since I could not get to my studio. This has been a busy summer and Fall, I taught a milk carton intaglio workshop in Silver City, NM for the Southwest Print Fiesta, 13 students signed up for this, we had a great time exploring this wonderful printmaking technique. I highly recommend going to this annual event every October. In July I helped organize the first (hopefully annual) Quick Carve at Hecho A Mano, where printmakers from Albuquerque, Las Vegas and Santa Fe did live carving and printing, buyers lined up to wait for the prints to come off the press, this was the print version of Hecho A Mano’s Quick Draw event. In September I had the honor of being the artist in residence at La Fonda, a historic hotel that opened in 1922. I will be there again next year in April and July. I still set up most Sundays and Tuesdays at The Railyard Artisan Market, this is my favorite art market, so many great makers and a wonderful supportive community. I showed a few times with the Santa Fe Society of Artists, I look forward to more shows with this group of talented artists. Santa Fe is a great place for artists, there are shows and events almost every day, no need to travel to art shows! Next year I am going to scale back a little from shows to concentrate on writing and illustrating new children’s books, I have had a few on the back burner, time to get going on them! Speaking of books, I went to a SCBWI, Society of Children’s Book writers and Illustrators, event in Santa Fe earlier this month. The guest speakers were inspiring, so many questions were answered about agents and publishers, it was exactly what I needed to get going on my books and connect with other local writers. I highly recommend joining this group if you are an aspiring writer or illustrator. as we head into the end of the year, I have two shows that I will be participating in besides the Railyard Artisan Market, Black Friday at the Railyard 10-3. December 7th the Holiday Show hosted by the Santa Fe Society of Artists, 5-9 at the Railyard Farmers Pavillion, As above so Below will be serving cocktails, there will be food, prizes and Recycle Santa Fe will have a craft making table set up. Be sure to mark your calendars! I have started my etsy site again, under Fat Crow Press studio, a friend has challenged me to list a print a day, I have been pretty good so far! Thats it for now, no workshops scheduled, I have realized that workshops in Las Vegas at my studio is a little far for people to travel so I am not going to schedule any for now. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season, thanks for listening!
